In this article, we will formulate a Cubs vs Marlins prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, May 21st at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs are 29-20 this season after they split the first two games in this series by scores of 7-8 and 14-1. In their game two win, Chicago was tied at one in the sixth inning, but they scored the last 13 runs in the game for the blowout win. The Cubs recorded 21 hits in the game, and they were led by Suzuki, who went 3-5 with one home run and four RBIs in the win. Chicago started Taillon, who allowed four hits and one earned run over 7.0 innings for the win, while Flexen pitched the final two innings.

Prior to this series, the Cubs swept the White Sox in three games and won two out of three against the Marlins. Chicago has won six of their last eight games, and they are currently first in the NL Central standings. The Chicago pitching staff has a 3.96 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP and a .249 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 291 runs with a .261 batting average and a .336 on-base percentage this season. Pete Crow-Armstrong has led Chicago with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs, while Seiya Suzuki has added 12 home runs and 43 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Cade Horton, who is 2-0 with a 6.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP over 9.0 innings pitched this year.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

The Miami Marlins are 19-28 this season after they lost game two by a score of 14-1 on Tuesday night. Miami scored in the third inning to tie the game at one, but they couldn’t find any more offense in the blowout loss. The Marlins recorded six hits in the game, and they were led by Fortes, who went 1-3 with one home run and one RBI in the loss. Miami started Weathers, who allowed five hits and one earned run over 5.0 innings, while Faucher allowed six earned runs in relief for the loss.

Prior to this series, the Marlins won two out of three against the Rays, but lost two out of three against the Cubs before that. Miami has won four of its last six games, and they are currently last in the NL East standings. The Miami pitching staff has a 5.56 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP and a .267 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 196 runs with a .248 batting average and a .312 on-base percentage this season. Kyle Stowers has led Miami with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs, while Matt Mervis has added seven home runs and 14 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Max Meyer, who is 3-4 with a 4.47 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 50.1 innings pitched this season.

Cubs vs Marlins Prediction

Chicago was able to jump all over the Miami bullpen for the win in game two of this series, and they will go for the series win here. The Cubs are 14-10 on the road this year, while the Marlins are 13-14 at home. Miami has played decently well over the last week, but they are starting Meyer, who has allowed five earned runs in three of his last four starts. Chicago is turning to Horton, who allowed three earned runs over 9.0 innings in his first two starts. Chicago’s offense is much better than Miami’s, and I don’t trust Meyer at all, so take the Cubs here.
