The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians will meet Monday afternoon in an American League Central matchup at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox enter Monday’s contest with an 84-78 overall record (2nd in the American League Central) and a 36-45 mark on the road. The White Sox offense has been productive this season. Chicago has compiled 776 runs scored (6th in MLB), 252 doubles, a .236 team batting average and massive 211 home runs which ranks fourth in Major League Baseball.

The White Sox arrive at this playoff contest in elite form, winning the team’s last three games, including a 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros six days ago.

The White Sox will turn to left hander Anthony Kay in this game. In 31 starts made in 2026, Kay has compiled a 10-9 win-loss record, a 4.44 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and 129 strikeouts in 158 innings pitched. Anthony Kay has pitched well recently, allowing one earned run or less in two of his last three starts made this season.

Shifting our focus to the Chicago offense, the White Sox lineup features Miguel Vargas and Chase Meidroth. Vargas has compiled 33 home runs (12th in MLB), 93 RBIs and an .837 OPS this season. Chase Meidroth enters this contest with a .276 batting average, 16 home runs and a .765 OPS.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians enter Monday’s matchup with an 85-77 record and a 41-40 mark at home. The Guardians arrive at tomorrow night’s game in above average form, winning three of the team’s last five games played this season, including a 12-9 victory over the Kansas City Royals last month.

The Guardians will start right hander Gavin Williams in this contest. In 32 starts made this season, Williams has compiled a 14-8 win-loss record, a 3.76 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 248 strikeouts (2nd in MLB) in 181.2 innings pitched. Gavin Williams has performed at a high level, allowing two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts made in 2026.

The Cleveland Guardians lineup features shortstop Brayan Rocchio and outfielder Chase DeLauter.  Brayan Rocchio has tallied a .253 batting average, 15 home runs, 73 RBIs, 25 doubles, 38 walks and a .705 OPS. DeLauter has amassed .287 batting average (17th in MLB), 14 home runs, 62 RBIs, 60 walks and an .820 OPS.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win.

• Starting pitching. In 31 starts made in 2026, Anthony Kay has compiled a 10-9 win-loss record, a 4.44 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and 129 strikeouts in 158 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Chicago White Sox arrive at this contest on the heels of a three-game winning streak.

Why the Cleveland Guardians will win.

• Home field advantage. The Cleveland Guardians have played competitive baseball at home, amassing a 41-40 win-loss record at Progressive Field.

• Starting pitching. In 32 starts made this season, Gavin Williams has compiled a 14-8 win-loss record, a 3.76 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 248 strikeouts in 181.2 innings pitched.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Cleveland Guardians. Why? Cleveland hurler Gavin Williams has been one of the premier strikeout pitchers in Major League Baseball this season, compiling a 14-8 win-loss record, a 3.76 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and a massive 248 strikeouts which ranks second in Major League Baseball. While Chicago starting pitcher Anthony Kay has enjoyed success this season, he has struggled away from home, posting a 5.25 ERA on the road compared to a 3.74 ERA at home. With that said, the Guardians are the clear side to be on in this one. I am backing the Cleveland Guardians on the moneyline in this game.
