The Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies will meet on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs enter tomorrow’s game with an 8–9 overall win‑loss record, including a 4–4 mark on the road. More recently, in the Chicago Cubs 7–6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates two days ago, Chicago catcher Moises Ballesteros tallied 2 hits (1 home run), 1 RBI and 1 run scored illustrating his ability to perform at a high level.

Chicago will turn to left‑hander Shota Imanaga tomorrow. In three starts made in the 2026 regular season, Imanaga has posted an 0-1 record, a 2.81 ERA, 20 strikeouts, a 0.81 WHIP (13th in MLB), while allowing 9 hits, 5 earned runs and 4 walks in 16 innings pitched. Imanaga has shown elite command, giving the Chicago Cubs a reliable presence on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Chicago Cubs have compiled a quality starting lineup in 2026, featuring second baseman Nico Hoerner and outfielder Ian Happ. Nico Hoerner has amassed a .303 batting average, 7 doubles, 10 RBIs, 9 walks and an .869 OPS. Ian Happ has tallied a .211 batting average, 4 home runs, 4 doubles, 7 RBIs, and a .784 OPS giving the Chicago Cubs a strong offensive core.

Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies arrive at Wednesday’s contest with an 8–9 win‑loss record, including a 5–6 mark at home. Three days ago, in the Philadelphia Phillies dominant 13-7 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia outfielder Kyle Schwarber compiled 2 hits (1 home run), 3 RBIs and 1 run scored demonstrating his ability to lead the Phillies offense.

The Phillies will turn to left‑hander Jesus Luzardo tomorrow night. In three starts made this season, Luzardo has compiled a 1–2 win-loss record, a 6.23 ERA, 26 strikeouts (7th in MLB) and a 1.15 WHIP, while allowing 16 hits and 4 walks in 17.1 innings pitched. Luzardo has shown elite strikeout ability but has shown inconsistency with shutting down elite offenses in 2026.

Shifting our focus to the Philadelphia offense, the Phillies will continue to rely on first baseman Bryce Harper and outfielder Justin Crawford, both of whom remain pivotal to Philadelphia’s offensive production. Bryce Harper enters this contest with a .258 batting average, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and a .845 OPS. Justin Crawford has posted a .288 batting average, 15 hits and a .755 OPS.

Why the Chicago Cubs will win.

• Starting pitching edge. Shota Imanaga has been one of the most effective starting pitchers in the National League this season.

• Offensive balance. Nico Hoerner and Ian Happ continue to anchor a steady lineup.

• Momentum. The Chicago Cubs have won two of the team’s last three games played this season.

Why the Philadelphia Phillies will win.

 • Quality starting pitching. Jesus Luzardo has compiled a 1–2 win-loss record, 26 strikeouts (7th in MLB) and a 1.15 WHIP, while allowing 16 hits and 4 walks in 17.1 innings pitched.

• Home field edge. Philadelphia has played competitive baseball at Citizens Bank Park this season.

• Offensive production. Bryce Harper and Justin Crawford continue to drive the Phillies offense.

Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Chicago Cubs to stay within the number. Why? Shota Imanaga has been outstanding through three starts, pairing a 0.81 WHIP with elite command. Philadelphia’s Jesus Luzardo brings strikeout upside, but his 6.23 ERA and overall inconsistency on the mound creates volatility. With that said, I like Cubs to stay inside the number (1.5) in this matchup. In summary, I am backing the Chicago Cubs plus the1.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Chicago Cubs +1.5
