Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Cubs took on the Detroit Tigers this week. Chicago won 3-1 in the Tuesday game, then the next day the Cubs took an 8-2 loss. In the finale Thursday Chicago scored four runs in two different innings during a 10-2 blowout win.

As starter for the opener of the Marlins’ series the Cubs will send out Kyle Hendricks. This year Hendricks is 3-10 with a 6.35 ERA in 22 games (17 starts).

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series. Miami lost the first two installments of that set 9-6 and 3-1. In the Wednesday finale the Marlins took a tough loss 10-8. Miami blew an early 6-3 lead, giving up seven runs across the final three innings.

As starter for Friday the Marlins are going with Max Meyer. So far in eight starts Meyer is 3-3 with a 5.58 ERA. In 10 career starts Meyer is 3-4 with a 5.83 ERA.

Chicago Cubs vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’m leaning toward the Cubs. A lot of that is due to Meyer’s recent issues on the mound, though. In his last three starts combined Meyer is 1-2 with 14 earned runs in 14.1 total innings on 21 hits and six walks. Chicago should have some early opportunities if Meyer can’t get it going.

On Thursday the Cubs bagged 13 team hits in a nice offensive outburst. Chicago did well on the mound also; the bullpen posted 2.0 innings, no earned, one hit and one walk. I like the Cubs to keep it up in the Friday opener.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Chicago Cubs -120
