The Chicago Cubs and the Baltimore Orioles will meet on Thursday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game interleague series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs enter Thursday’s contest with a 52–40 overall record (2nd in the National League Central) and a respectable 25–21 mark on the road. The Cubs offense has been competitive to this point in the season. Chicago has compiled 469 runs scored (4th in MLB), 144 doubles, a .244 team batting average and 117 home runs which ranks seventh in Major League Baseball.

The Cubs arrive at this afternoon’s game in good form. More specifically, Chicago has won eight of the team’s last ten games played this season, including a dominant 23-3 victory over the San Diego Padres earlier this month.

Chicago will turn to left hander David Peterson in this contest. In ten starts made this season, Peterson has compiled a 4–7 win‑loss record, a 6.75 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP and 68 strikeouts, while allowing 96 hits and 33 walks in 77.1 innings pitched. Peterson struggled in his most recent outing, allowing a massive ten earned runs across 3.2 innings pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals convincing 17-1 defeat of the Chicago Cubs six days ago.

The Chicago Cubs lineup features outfielders Pete Crow-Armstrong and Ian Happ. Pete Crow-Armstrong has tallied a .296 batting average, 21 home runs (20th in MLB), 42 walks, 52 RBIs and a .928 OPS which ranks first in Major League Baseball. Ian Happ has compiled 17 home runs, 41 RBIs and 46 walks.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

The Baltimore Orioles enter Thursday afternoon’s matchup with a 42–51 overall record (5th in the American League East) and a 24–25 mark at home. Baltimore arrives at this contest in poor form. The Orioles have lost seven of the team’s last ten games played in 2026, including a 9–3 loss to the Chicago White Sox last month.

Baltimore will start left hander Trevor Rogers in today’s game. In sixteen starts made this season, Rogers has compiled a 6–7 record, a 4.70 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and 65 strikeouts, while allowing 82 hits and 29 walks in 65 innings pitched. Rogers has pitched exceptionally well recently amassing a 1.80 ERA in his last five starts made this season.

The Baltimore Orioles lineup features first baseman Pete Alonso and outfielder Taylor Ward. Pete Alonso leads the team with 20 home runs, 16 doubles, 47 walks, 62 RBIs (13th in MLB) and an .807 OPS. Taylor Ward enters this contest with a .254 batting average, 5 home runs, 19 doubles, 70 walks, 24 RBIs and a .734 OPS.

Why the Chicago Cubs will win.

• Offensive balance. Pete Crow-Armstrong and Ian Happ continue to anchor the Chicago Cubs lineup.

• Home run potential. The Chicago Cubs have tallied 117 home runs which ranks seventh in Major League Baseball.

• Current form. The Cubs have won eight of the team’s last ten games.

Why the Baltimore Orioles will win.

• Starting pitching advantage. Trevor Rogers has compiled a 6–7 record, a 4.70 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and 65 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched this season.

• Home field edge. Baltimore has played competitive baseball at Camden Yards this season.

• Motivation. The Baltimore Orioles have lost seven of the team’s last ten games.

Chicago Cubs vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Baltimore Orioles. Why? After a rough start to the 2026 regular season, Baltimore starting pitcher Trevor Rogers has pitched well recently, amassing a 1.80 ERA across his last five starts made in 2026. Conversely, Chicago hurler David Peterson struggled in his most recent outing, allowing ten earned runs across 3.2 innings pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals 17-1 defeat of the Chicago Cubs six days ago. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Baltimore Orioles on the moneyline in this game.
