In this article we will formulate a Brewers vs Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, August 2nd at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers are 65-44 this year after they won game one in this series by a score of 16-9 on Friday. Milwaukee trailed 1-0 early in the game, but they scored nine runs in the first five innings and cruised to the easy win. The Brewers recorded 25 hits in the game and they were led by Perkins, Monasterio, and Vaughn, who all had three RBIs in the win. Milwaukee started Quintana, who allowed six hits and two earned runs over 5.0 innings for the win, while McGee allowed five earned runs in relief.

Prior to this series, the Brewers won two out of three against the Cubs, but lost two out of three against the Marlins before that. Milwaukee has won four of their last five games and they are currently first in the NL Central standings. The Milwaukee pitching staff has a 3.68 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and a .234 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 533 runs with a .255 batting average and a .327 on base percentage this season. Christian Yelich has led Milwaukee with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs, while Jackson Chourio has added 17 home runs and 67 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Milwaukee is Brandon Woodruff, who is 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP over 22.1 innings pitched this season.

Washington Nationals Betting Preview

The Washington Nationals are 44-65 this season after they lost game one on Friday night. Washington cut the deficit to 9-4 in the sixth inning, but allowed the next seven runs in the loss. The Nationals recorded 15 hits and they committed three errors in the game, while they were led by Hassell III, Lile, and House, who all had two RBIs in the loss. Washington started Parker, who allowed 12 hits and eight earned runs over 4.0 innings for the loss, while Loutos allowed three earned runs in relief.

Prior to that series, the Nationals lost two out of three against the Astros, but did win two out of three against the Twins before that. Washington has lost five of their last eight games and they are currently last in the NL East standings. The Washington pitching staff has a 5.22 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and a .267 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 472 runs with a .245 batting average and a .311 on base percentage this season. James Wood has led Washington with 24 home runs and 71 RBIs, while Nathaniel Lowe has added 15 home runs and 63 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Jake Irvin, who is 8-5 with a 4.69 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 126.2 innings pitched this season.

Brewers vs Nationals Prediction

Milwaukee was able to put up a huge offensive showing on Friday night to win game one, as they continue to lead the NL Central standings. The Brewers are 29-24 on the road this year, while the Nationals are 21-32 at home. Washington’s bullpen is a disaster and they are starting Irvin, who has allowed at least four earned runs in two of his last four outings. Milwaukee is going with Woodruff, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four straight starts. Milwaukee is the better team and I can’t possibly back this Washington pitching staff, so give me the Brewers by at least two here.

David Racey's Pick: Brewers -1.5
