In this article we will formulate a Brewers vs Cubs prediction for this MLB game on Thursday, August 21st at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers are 79-48 this year after they lost three of the first four games in this series by scores of 7-0, 4-6, 1-4, and 3-4. In their game four loss, Milwaukee led 1-0 in the second inning, but fell behind in the third and never recovered in the close loss. The Brewers recorded six hits in the game and they were led by Jansen, Perkins, and Turang, who all had one RBI in the loss. Milwaukee started Misiorowski, who allowed one hit and three earned runs over 4.0 innings for the loss, while Koenig allowed one earned run in relief.

Prior to this series, the Brewers won two out of three against the Reds and all three against the Pirates. Milwaukee has lost four of their last five games and they are first in the NL Central standings. The Milwaukee pitching staff has a 3.58 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a .229 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 653 runs with a .258 batting average and a .332 on base percentage this season. Christian Yelich has led Milwaukee with 26 home runs and 87 RBIs, while William Contreras has added 13 home runs and 61 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Milwaukee is Quinn Priester, who is 11-2 with a 3.48 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 124.0 innings pitched this year.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs are 73-54 this season after they won game four by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday night. Chicago took a 3-1 lead in the third inning and added a huge run in the eighth to get the victory. The Cubs recorded four hits in the game and they were led by Busch, who went 2-4 with three RBIs in the win. Chicago started Rea, who allowed three hits and two earned runs over 5.2 innings for the win, while Palencia picked up the save.

Prior to this series, the Cubs won two out of three against the Pirates, but did lose two out of three against the Blue Jays before that. Chicago has won five of their last six games and they are currently second in the NL Central standings. The Chicago pitching staff has a 3.81 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and a .242 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 628 runs with a .249 batting average and a .319 on base percentage this season. Seiya Suzuki has led Chicago with 27 home runs and 86 RBIs, while Pete Crow-Armstrong has added 27 home runs and 79 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Shota Imanaga, who is 8-5 with a 3.06 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP over 103.0 innings pitched this season.

Brewers vs Cubs Prediction

Chicago absolutely had to play well in this series if they wanted to get back into the NL Central race, and they are one win away from being just five games back. The Cubs are 41-24 at home this year, while the Brewers are 37-28 on the road. Milwaukee has really slowed down since their winning streak was snapped and they will turn to Priester, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five outings. The Cubs are going with Imanaga, who has allowed at least three earned runs in three of his last five. I think Priester has been the better pitcher this year, but Chicago has some momentum and I think Imanaga will step up. Take the Cubs to win.
