Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Over the weekend, the Sox took on the Minnesota Twins. Boston lost 4-2 in the opener but won the next pair 8-1 and 9-3 for a series victory. On Monday against the Blue Jays, the Red Sox put together a 4-1 win. Tanner Houck put up 5.0 clean frames in the start with one hit and one walk.

Brayan Bello will start for Boston on Tuesday. So far Bello is 14-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 29 starts. In his 70 career games (68 starts) Bello is 28-27 with a 4.42 ERA.

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they played the Tampa Bay Rays in their last set. Toronto lost all three of those games 1-0, 3-2 and 4-3. In Monday’s game, the Jays out-hit the Sox 6-5 but couldn’t score until the ninth. Starter Chris Bassitt lasted 4.1 innings with two earned runs.

It’ll be Bowden Francis in the start for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. This year Francis is 8-5 with a 3.47 ERA in 26 games (12 starts). Francis is 9-5 with a 2.99 career ERA in 47 games (12 starts).

Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll go with the Red Sox. We should have a good starter battle here regardless, though. Bello is 2-1 in his last three starts, notching a combined four earned runs in 16.1 innings of work. As for Francis, he’s 0-2 in his last three but has a solid six earned over 20.0 innings in that time.

On Monday the Sox made the most of their five team hits, and the 10 walks didn’t hurt either. Boston used four arms out of the bullpen so it’d be nice to see Bello eat up some innings in the Tuesday game. It should be a fun one.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Boston Red Sox +102
