Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

In their weekend series, the Red Sox took on the San Diego Padres. Boston lost the first two installments of that set before a 4-1 win on Sunday. The Sox took out the Marlins 8-3 in their opener, then on Wednesday Boston kept it up with a 7-2 win.

It’ll be Nick Pivetta in the starting pitcher role for the Red Sox in game three. This year Pivetta is 4-5 with a 4.52 ERA in 12 starts. Pivetta is 54-64 with a 4.84 ERA in 208 career games (164 starts).

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they split a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend. Miami managed wins 7-4 in the opener and 3-2 on Saturday. In game two versus the Red Sox, the Marlins were out-hit 12-9.

Kyle Tyler will toe the rubber in the starter role for the Marlins on Thursday. This season so far in three games (two starts), Tyler is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA. Over his career Tyler is 1-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 10 games (two starts).

Boston Red Sox vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Marlins. Since his return, Tyler has pitched reasonably well in his 8.2 innings, notching three earned on seven hits and five walks. Tyler is just 0-1 in that pair, though. As for Pivetta, he’s given up eight earned runs over his last two starts in 8.1 innings total.

On Wednesday the Marlins coughed up four runs in the ninth inning and ruined any chance of a comeback. Miami needs to get a solid performance on the mound in addition to a handful of runs in the finale.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Miami Marlins +149
