The Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s an Atlanta Braves vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Atlanta Braves will send out Reynaldo Lopez for the start here and Lopez is 5-2 with a 1.57 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. This will be Lopez’s first career start against the Cardinals. The St. Louis Cardinals will send out Kyle Gibson for the start here and Gibson is 5-2 with a 3.44 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Braves, Gibson is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts.

Atlanta Braves Recap

The Atlanta Braves will try to rebound after starting the series with a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Cardinals in Monday’s series opener. It wasn’t the ideal start for the Braves who are looking to keep their series win streak alive which includes triumphs over the Yankees, Tigers and Rays over the last week and a half.

Braves Still Rock Solid At The Dish Despite Loss

Going into Monday’s action, Marcell Ozuna leads the Braves with 88 hits including 21 home runs and 64 RBIs while Orlando Arcia has 18 doubles and Ozzie Albies has a team-high 21 doubles, logging 71 hits as well this season. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a team-high 16 stolen bases as well this season but is now out for the season with a torn ACL. Matt Olson has 19 doubles with a team-high 81 strikeouts and Austin Riley has 14 doubles with a pair of triples.

St. Louis Cardinals Recap

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to keep the ball rolling after opening the set with a win over the Braves on Monday, a welcome sight for the Cardinals, who are looking for back-to-back series wins after sweeping the San Francisco Giants this past weekend.

Cardinals Starting To Heat Up Offensively

Entering Monday’s series opener, Nolan Arenado has 70 hits along with 13 doubles and 32 RBIs while Brendan Donovan has a team-high 73 hits and 38 RBIs with 17 doubles. Nolan Gorman has a team-high 16 home runs along with 36 RBIs in addition to 8 doubles while Masyn Winn has a .299 batting average and 8 stolen bases. Paul Goldschmidt also has 97 K’s while Gorman has a team-high 99 strikeouts as well this season.

Why the St. Louis Cardinals will win

Atlanta Braves vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’m on the over here. Reynaldo Lopez has been outstanding this season, but he’s started to give up some hits in recent starts and the Cardinals are absolutely smoking the ball right now against right-handed pitching. On the other side, Kyle Gibson is pitching above his pay grade in my opinion as he’s normally good for an ERA in the high-fours to low-fives by year’s end, and a 3.44 ERA for Gibson is just flat out unsustainable in my opinion. All in all, I think we have a high-scoring game brewing here so give me the over.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Over 8.5
