The Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs will meet Tuesday night in the opening game of a National League matchup at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Atlanta Braves enter Tuesday’s contest with an 88-63 overall record (1st in the National League East) and a robust 37-36 mark on the road. The Braves arrive at this contest in subpar form, losing the team’s last two games, including a 9-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies last week.

The Braves will turn to left hander Martin Perez in this game. In 24 starts made in 2026, Perez has compiled an 8-9 win-loss record, a 3.08 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and 98 strikeouts in 131.2 innings pitched. Martin Perez arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts made this season. Perez will look to build on his recent quality performances on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the Chicago Cubs.

The Atlanta Braves lineup features first baseman Matt Olson and Michael Harris II. Matt Olson has compiled a .248 batting average, 39 home runs (4th in MLB), 85 RBIs and an .828 OPS which ranks 25th in Major League Baseball. Michael Harris II has amassed a .292 batting average (14th in MLB), 25 home runs, 32 doubles, 21 walks, 83 RBIs and an .809 OPS.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs enter Tuesday’s matchup with an 84-67 overall record (2nd in the National League Central) including a rather impressive 44-32 mark at home. The Cubs offense has been outstanding this season. Chicago has compiled 806 runs scored (1st in MLB) and 208 home runs (1st in MLB), making the Cubs lineup one of the most dangerous offensive units in baseball.

The Cubs arrive at tomorrow night’s game in above average form. Chicago has won three of the team’s last four games, including a 12-2 defeat to the Pittsburgh Pirates three days ago.

The Cubs will start right hander Kevin Gausman in this contest. In 30 starts made in 2026, Gausman has compiled a 9-12 win-loss record, a 4.60 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and 171 strikeouts which ranks 20th in Major League Baseball. Kevin Gausman struggled in his most recent outing, allowing six earned runs across four innings pitched in the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs last week.

The Chicago Cubs lineup features talented outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who has compiled 42 home runs (2nd in MLB), 102 RBIs and a .281 batting average this season.

Why the Atlanta Braves will win.

• Enhanced motivation. The Atlanta Braves arrive at this contest on the heels of a two-game losing streak.

• Team success. The Braves own an 88-63 overall win-loss record and lead the National League East.

• Starting pitching. In 30 starts made in 2026, Kevin Gausman has compiled a 9-12 win-loss record, a 4.60 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and 171 strikeouts which ranks 20th in Major League Baseball.

Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Atlanta Braves staying within the number (1.5) with the upside of winning the contest outright. Why? Atlanta starting pitcher Martin Perez arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts made this season. Conversely, Chicago hurler Kevin Gausman struggled in his most recent outing, allowing six earned runs across four innings pitched in the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs last week. Having stated that, I am backing the Atlanta Braves plus the 1.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Atlanta Braves +1.5
