In this article we will formulate an Astros vs Yankees prediction for this MLB game on Friday, August 8th at Yankee Stadium in New York. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Houston Astros are 64-51 this season after they won two out of three against Miami by scores of 8-2, 7-3, and 4-6. In their game three loss, Houston led 2-0 in the first inning, but they allowed the next five runs and couldn’t recover in the defeat. The Astros recorded 12 hits in the game and they were led by Walker, who went 2-4 with one home run and two RBIs in the loss. Houston started Arrighetti, who allowed 11 hits and five earned runs over 3.2 innings for the loss, while Neris allowed one earned run in relief.

Prior to that series, the Astros lost all three against the Red Sox, but did win two out of three against the Nationals before that. Houston has lost four of their last six games and they are currently first in the AL West standings. The Houston pitching staff has a 3.72 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and a .230 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 497 runs with a .258 batting average and a .322 on base percentage this season. Jose Altuve has led Houston with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs, while Yanier Diaz has added 16 home runs and 50 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Houston is Hunter Brown, who is 9-5 with a 2.47 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP over 131.0 innings pitched this season.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

The New York Yankees are 61-54 this year after they lost two out of three against Texas by scores of 5-8, 0-2, and 3-2. In their game three win, New York was tied at two late in the game, but they scored in the seventh to escape with the victory. The Yankees recorded six hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Goldschmidt and Volpe, who both had one RBI in the win. New York started Rodon, who allowed six hits and two earned runs over 5.0 innings, while Leiter Jr. picked up the win and Bednar got the save.

Prior to that series, the Yankees lost all three against the Marlins, but did win three out of four against the Rays before that. New York has lost five of their last six games and they are currently third in the AL East standings. The New York pitching staff has a 4.05 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and a .230 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 587 runs with a .250 batting average and a .329 on base percentage this season. Cody Bellinger has led New York with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs, while Jazz Chisholm has added 19 home runs and 51 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for New York is Cam Schlittler, who is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP over 19.2 innings pitched this year.

Astros vs Yankees Prediction

New York was able to snap their losing streak with a win on Wednesday against Texas, but they need to turn things around to get back in the race for the AL East. The Yankees are 34-22 at home this year, while the Astros are 29-27 on the road. Houston did just win a series, but they have also struggled over the last two weeks. Houston is starting Brown, who has allowed one earned run in each of his last two starts. New York is going with Schlittler, who has allowed 2, 3, 2, and 3 earned runs in four starts. I don’t trust Schlittler on the mound and with the New York offense struggling, I will side with Houston here.
