In this article we will formulate an Astros vs Orioles prediction for this MLB game on Friday, August 22nd at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Houston Astros are 70-58 this year after they won game one by a score of 7-2 on Thursday night. Houston led 7-1 in the third inning and cruised to the easy win to start the series. The Astros recorded 12 hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Correa, Walker, and Diaz, who all had two RBIs in the win. Houston started Alexander, who allowed eight hits and two earned runs over 5.1 innings for the win, while Okert, Ort, and King finished the game.

Prior to this series, the Astros lost all three against the Tigers and two out of three against the Orioles. Houston has lost four of their last five games and they are currently first in the AL West standings. The Houston pitching staff has a 3.87 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a .233 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 539 runs with a .253 batting average and a .318 on base percentage this season. Jose Altuve has led Houston with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs, while Yanier Diaz has added 18 home runs and 55 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Houston is Lance McCullers Jr., who is 2-4 with a 6.90 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP over 44.1 innings pitched this year.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

The Baltimore Orioles are 59-68 this season after they dropped game one on Thursday night. Baltimore cut the deficit to 4-1 in the second inning, but couldn’t get any closer in the loss. The Orioles recorded nine hits and they committed two errors in the game, while they were led by Beavers, who went 1-3 with one home run and two RBIs in the loss. Baltimore started Young, who allowed nine hits and seven earned runs over 5.1 innings for the loss, while Hiraldo, Wolfram, and Martin combined for 3.2 scoreless innings in relief.

Prior to this series, the Orioles won both games against the Red Sox and two out of three against the Astros. Baltimore has won six of their last eight games and they are currently last in the AL East standings. The Baltimore pitching staff has a 4.66 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and a .261 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 549 runs with a .240 batting average and a .305 on base percentage this season. Jackson Holliday has led Baltimore with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs, while Gunnar Henderson has added 15 home runs and 57 RBIs this year. Astros vs Orioles Prediction

Houston finally snapped out of their funk with a big win on Thursday night, as they were really struggling at the plate prior to that game. The Astros are 32-31 on the road this year, while the Orioles are 30-31 at home. Baltimore has won six of their last eight games and they are starting Povich, who has allowed at least three earned runs in three of his last five outings. Houston is going with McCullers Jr, who is coming off of the IL, but has allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five. I don’t trust either pitcher in this game, but I will fade McCullers after a lengthy IL stay. Take the O’s here.
