What an Awful Loss for the Twins
It’s been a couple of awful losses that have come at the hands of the Twins' bullpen, and it happened again on Friday. The Twins were up 4-1 heading into the 8th but then Griffin Jax came into the game and blew it and the Twins ended up giving up five runs in the inning. They wasted a solid start from Chris Paddack. Luke Keaschall made his MLB debut and and he finished with two hits, one run and one run driven in.
The Twins are averaging 3.47 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.16 runs per game. The offense is ranked 24th while the pitching is ranked 11th. They are going to need the pitching to be good here. Simeon Woods Richardson is going to get he start for the Twins and he sits with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 4.30. In his last start against the Detroit Tigers he went five innings giving up five hits and one run.
Why the Twins Will Beat the Braves
- The Braves have lost each of their last seven games following a win.
- The Twins have won eight of their last nine Saturday games as underdogs against National League opponents.
- The Braves have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six games following a home win.
- The Twins have covered the run line in each of their last eight Saturday night games as underdogs against National League opponents.
- The Twins have led after 5 innings in four of their last five night games.
- The Twins have led after 3 innings in each of their last three road games against NL East opponents that held a losing record.
Is Friday What the Braves Needed?
The Braves have only had five wins heading into Friday’s game but maybe that win was all they needed The Braves scored the five runs and they are going to need the offense to put on a show again in this game, although it would help if they got it going a little earlier in this game. Michael Harris II had a strong game finishing with two hits and two RBIs.
The Braves are averaging 3.38 runs while their defense is giving up 4.43 runs per game. The offense is ranked 25th in the league while the defense is ranked 16th. Even though the offense hasn’t been good overall, they are averaging 1.22 home runs per game which is 9th. Chris Sale sits with an 0-2 record and an ERA of 6.63. In his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays he went 4.1 innings giving up six hits and four runs.
Minnesota Twins vs Atlanta Braves Prediction
Give me the Twins here. Even though Woods Richardson hasn’t been dominant this season, he’s still been good and he’s going to have a strong start again here. In his last start he gave up one run in five innings and getting to face off against a Braves offense that can’e be trusted is going to be even better here. The Braves bats are going to be ice cold, and the Twins will score enough, at least four runs, and come out on top. I do have a bit of a concern about the way the blew the lead on Friday buut they can't do it two games in a row. Back the Twins on the money line.
