Boston Red Sox Betting Preview
The Sox got off to a nice start in the opener of this set on Thursday, hitting a 5-2 victory thanks to three ninth-inning runs. Boston’s Wilyer Abreu bagged three hits, three runs, four RBI and two homers in that one, carrying the team.
Friday’s game two didn’t go so well for the Sox though, as they fell 4-1. Starting pitcher Tanner Houck had 5.2 innings with seven hits, three walks and four earned runs in the defeat.
In the Saturday game three, the Red Sox gave up two runs in the first inning and ended up falling 4-3 in the end. Kristian Campbell provided a solo homer and a pair of hits. Boston will travel to take on the Baltimore Orioles in their next set.
In the starter slot for Sunday’s finale, the Red Sox will trot out Richard Fitts. In his regular-season career Fitts is 0-1 with a 1.74 ERA in limited action (four starts). He’s got nine strikeouts total over 20.2 innings in that time.

Over on the Texas side, they had a brief 2-1 lead in the Thursday opener but couldn’t close the game out. The Rangers’ Josh Jung and Kevin Pillar (run; RBI) each had two of the team’s seven total hits.

On Saturday the Rangers posted eight hits on the night, with three of those coming from Adolis Garcia (three RBI; homer). Starting pitcher Tyler Mahle put up 1.2 innings with one earned on two hits and four walks in the win. Texas will play the Cincinnati Reds in their next series.
Jacob deGrom will make the start for Texas on Sunday. In 2024 deGrom had just three starts, posting a 1.69 ERA without a decision. In his career deGrom is 84-57 with a 2.52 ERA in 218 total starts.

Rangers vs Red Sox Prediction
I’m going with the Rangers. It’s really going to depend on how deGrom looks, but if all goes well Texas should be in good shape on the scoreboard while he’s out there. This spring deGrom went 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts, so he’s got a bit of improving to do. As for Fitts, he did pretty well in Spring Training with a 2-0 record and a 2.37 ERA in seven games (four starts).
On Saturday the Rangers got off to a good start and did just enough offensively to power out the one-run win. Texas used a lot of bullpen arms in their victory, but overall the staff didn’t do too badly after Mahle’s early exit. Over 7.1 innings that group gave up just two earned runs and struck out eight batters. I like the Rangers to keep it going in the finale, provided they can get a similar effort from their bullpen arms.
