The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies meet Sunday in MLB action from Coors Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Los Angeles Dodgers did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted. The Colorado Rockies will send out Ryan Feltner for the start here and Feltner is 3-10 with a 4.66 ERA and 135 strikeouts this season. In his career, Feltner is 1-2 with an 8.68 ERA and 17 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles Dodgers Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers come into this one looking to enter the postseason strong after winning the series with a 13-2 win over Colorado on Saturday. A win would complete the sweep for Los Angeles, but they head into the postseason with series wins over the Padres, Rockies and Marlins over the last two weeks.
Dodgers Trying To Finish On High Note
Shohei Ohtani has 196 hits including a team-high 54 home runs, 38 doubles, 7 triples and 130 RBIs with a .310 batting average while Mookie Betts has 130 hits with 24 doubles, 5 triples, 19 homers and 75 RBIs of his own. Teoscar Hernandez also has 33 home runs with 99 RBIs and a team-high 187 strikeouts. Betts also has 16 stolen bases while Ohtani has a team-high 58 stolen bases. Freddie Freeman also has 22 home runs and 89 RBIs with 35 doubles and Will Smith has added 24 doubles, 20 home runs and 75 RBIs. Andy Pages has also chipped in 23 doubles on the year.
Why the Los Angeles Dodgers will win
- The Dodgers have won each of their last six day games against teams that held a losing record.
- The Rockies have lost 11 of their last 12 day games against NL West opponents.
- The Dodgers have covered the run line each of their last four road games against teams that held a losing record.
- The Rockies have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six home games against teams that held a winning record.
Colorado Rockies Recap
The Colorado Rockies will try to salvage something from the series and avoid the sweep after their loss in Saturday’s matchup. The loss gave the Rockies 100 for the season, and meant that to close the year, the Rockies would have a pair of series losses to the Dodgers and a series L against the Cardinals on their ledger.
Rockies Looking To End Homestand On A High
Ezequiel Tovar leads the Rockies with 176 hits including a team-high 45 doubles, 26 home runs and 78 RBIs with 200 strikeouts as well this season while Ryan McMahon has 20 home runs and 65 RBIs along with 28 doubles and 184 strikeouts as well. Brenton Doyle’s added 24 doubles, 23 home runs, 72 RBIs and a team-high 30 stolen bases as well as 4 triples and Brendan Rodgers has a .267 batting average this season. Michael Toglia’s also chipped in 25 home runs as well this season.
Why the Colorado Rockies will win
- The Rockies have won each of their last four day games following a loss.
- The Dodgers have lost five of their last six day games against NL West opponents following a win.
- The Rockies have covered the run line in each of their last four day games following a loss.
- The Dodgers have failed to cover the run line in six of their last seven day games against NL West opponents following a win.
Dodgers vs. Rockies Prediction
I’m on the Rockies here. I just think that the Rockies would like to avoid getting swept to close out the year and Ryan Feltner, while having little success in his career against the Dodgers, has actually been pitching really well for the Rockies since returning from injury. The Dodgers have locked up the best record in baseball and are really only playing for pride here. Give me Colorado.
