The Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Sunday in MLB action from Chase Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Milwaukee Brewers will send out DL Hall for the start here and Hall is 1-1 with a 4.01 ERA and 34 strikeouts this season. This will be Hall’s first career start against Arizona. Zac Gallen will get the nod for the Diamondbacks here and is 12-6 with a 3.55 ERA and 133 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against Milwaukee, Gallen is 3-2 with a 1.45 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
Milwaukee Brewers Recap
The Milwaukee Brewers will try to complete the sweep over Arizona after taking down the Diamondbacks on Saturday by a final score of 15-8. The series win after Saturday’s triumph gives the Brewers back-to-back series wins after knocking off the Giants earlier this week.
Brewers Have One Hand On NL Central Crown
William Contreras leads the Brewers with 157 hits including 36 doubles and 88 RBIs along with 22 home runs and a .362 OBP while Rhys Hoskins has 24 home runs with 73 RBIs and Willy Adames has 29 doubles with 32 home runs and 107 RBIs. Brice Turang leads the Brewers with 42 stolen bases while Adames has a team-high 157 strikeouts as well this season. Jackson Chourio’s added 20 homers and 72 RBIs also on the year.
Why the Milwaukee Brewers will win
- The Brewers have won each of their last eight road games against teams that held a winning record.
- The Diamondbacks have lost each of their last three games as home favorites against NL Central opponents.
- The Brewers have covered the run line each of their last eight road games against teams that held a winning record.
- The Diamondbacks have failed to cover the run line in 10 of their last 11 games as home favorites against NL Central opponents.
Arizona Diamondbacks Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to salvage something from this series and avoid the sweep after falling flat in Saturday’s matchup. The series loss for Los Serpientes meant that the Diamondbacks would be unable to follow up on their series sweep of the Texas Rangers from earlier this week.
Diamondbacks Trying To Secure Playoff Berth
Ketel Marte has 134 hits in addition to a .293 batting average and 21 doubles with 31 home runs and 85 RBIs while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also has 17 home runs and 70 RBIs as well this season. Corbin Carroll has a team-high 27 stolen bases, 13 triples, 19 home runs and 67 RBIs while Eugenio Suarez has 28 home runs, a team-high 92 RBIs and 155 strikeouts this season. Christian Walker also has 25 home runs with 77 RBIs of his own in addition to 123 strikeouts this season.
Why the Arizona Diamondbacks will win
- The Diamondbacks have won each of their last eight day games against National League opponents following a home loss.
- The Brewers have lost each of their last four day games against the Diamondbacks following a win.
- The Diamondbacks have covered the run line in eight of their last nine day games against National League opponents following a home loss.
- The Brewers have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight day games against NL West opponents following a road win.
Brewers vs. Diamondbacks Prediction
I’m on the Diamondbacks here. I know the Brewers have been the clearly better team so far in this series, but Gallen is Arizona’s stopper and has started to find his form once again, especially at home where he’s been at his best for the most part in a Diamondbacks uniform. DL Hall has had issues as a starter whenever he takes the bump and is prone to giving up a handful of runs. I think that Arizona avoids the sweep and gets the win with their ace. Give me Arizona.
Chris’s Pick Arizona -167
