The Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners meet Saturday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Texas Rangers will send out Max Scherzer for the start here and Scherzer is 2-4 with a 3.89 ERA and 38 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Mariners, Scherzer is 1-2 with a 3.21 ERA and 35 strikeouts. Logan Gilbert will get the start for the Mariners and is 7-11 with a 3.15 ERA and 191 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Rangers, Gilbert is 2-2 with a 1.64 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
Texas Rangers Recap
The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to make one last playoff push if they can get a positive result from this series and they need it after being swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks to start the week.
Rangers Title Defense On Life Support
Entering Friday, Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 141 hits along with 25 doubles, 21 home runs and 70 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 22 home runs and 75 RBIs with 25 doubles as well as 11 stolen bases. Jonah Heim has 12 homers and 53 RBIs and Josh Smith also has 27 doubles. Wyatt Langford’s also chipped in 22 doubles, a team-high 4 triples, 10 homers, 63 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Leody Taveras also has a team-high 19 stolen bases as well this season.
Seattle Mariners Recap
The Seattle Mariners come into this one looking to keep the ball rolling as they try to start the climb back after going from 10-games up in the division in mid-June to trying to fight for their playoff lives in September following a series split with the San Diego Padres from earlier this week.
Mariners Trying To Hold On In Playoff Hunt
Going into Friday, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 128 hits including a .258 batting average and also has 15 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 30 home runs along with 92 RBIs and 164 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 12 home runs and 44 RBIs while Rodriguez has 22 stolen bases and 139 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has 22 doubles with 29 stolen bases and Josh Rojas has 19 doubles also this season.
Rangers vs. Mariners Prediction
I’m on the Mariners here. I get why the Rangers could be worth a look with Scherzer returning to the fold, and his rehab starts were solid. However, Gilbert’s been a much stronger pitcher at home this season, and he’s had a ton of success against the Rangers already this year. I’m about ready to stick a fork in Texas, I think they’re finished. Give me the Mariners here.
