The Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals square off Saturday in MLB action from Nationals Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Miami Marlins will send out Valente Bellozo and Bellozo is 2-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. This will be Bellozo’s second career start against the Nationals. Patrick Corbin will get the start for the Nationals here and is 5-13 with a 5.60 ERA and 126 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against Miami, Corbin is 1-2 with a 3.77 ERA and 27 strikeouts.
Miami Marlins Recap
The Miami Marlins will be out to bounce back after taking one on the chin in a 4-1 loss in Friday’s matchup. The loss evened the series up at one win apiece where the Marlins are trying to bounce back from a series sweep at the hands of the Pirates from earlier this week.
Marlins Trying To Save Face To Close Out Season
Jake Burger leads the Marlins with 25 home runs and 61 RBIs along with 117 hits while Jesus Sanchez has 17 home runs and 59 RBIs with 22 doubles. Xavier Edwards also has a team-high 26 stolen bases while Burger has the dubious distinction of leading the Marlins with 135 strikeouts this season.
Why the Miami Marlins will win
- The Nationals have lost five of their last six games as favorites following a win.

- The Marlins have covered the run line in eight of their last nine day games against NL East opponents.
- The Nationals have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six games as favorites following a win.
Washington Nationals Recap
The Washington Nationals come into this game looking to build on Friday’s win over the Fish to tie things up at one victory on both sides. The Nationals are looking for a positive result to build on back-to-back series splits with the Braves and Pirates over the last week and a half.
Nationals Playing Out The String
CJ Abrams has 126 hits along with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs to go along with 27 doubles, 6 triples and 29 stolen bases. Luis Garcia Jr. has a team-high 129 hits including 25 doubles with 64 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Jacob Young has 32 stolen bases as well this season.

- The Marlins have lost seven of their last eight day games against NL East opponents that held a losing record.
- The Nationals have covered the run line in each of their last nine day games against NL East opponents following a win.
- The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight day games against NL East opponents that held a losing record.
Marlins vs. Nationals Prediction
I’m on the Nationals here. I didn’t think at any points this year, would I find myself going out of my way to back Patrick Corbin multiple times in a season but here we are and I think that he’s been pitching really well for the most part outside of one or two bad Corbin starts that we should be used to at this point. Miami has provided value here and there, but I don’t think it’ll be enough in this game as the Nationals are the better team here by a fair margin. Give me Washington.
