The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves square off Tuesday in MLB action from Truist Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Philadelphia Phillies will send out Zack Wheeler for the start here and Wheeler is 12-5 with a 2.72 ERA and 162 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Braves, Wheeler is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Philadelphia Phillies Recap
The Philadelphia Phillies come into this one looking to build on their series win over the Washington Nationals this past weekend, despite a 6-4 loss in Sunday’s series finale. The win helped the Phils bounce back from a series split with the Miami Marlins from earlier in the week.
Phillies Trying To Close Up Shop In NL East
Alec Bohm leads the Phillies with 140 hits including 43 doubles, a .296 batting average and a team-high 85 RBIs while Bryce Harper has 26 home runs with 73 RBIs and Bryson Stott has a team-high 25 stolen bases. Kyle Schwarber has 28 home runs, 78 RBIs and a team-high 143 strikeouts as well this season. Johan Rojas also has 21 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the Philadelphia Phillies will win
- The Phillies have won each of their last 11 games as favorites against NL East opponents following a home loss.
- The Braves have lost each of their last five games at Truist Park.
- The Phillies have covered the run line in 15 of their last 16 night games against NL East opponents following a home loss.
- The Braves have failed to cover the run line each of their last six home games against teams that held a winning record.
Atlanta Braves Recap
The Atlanta Braves come into this one looking to build on their series win over the Angels after picking up a 3-1 win over the Halos in Sunday’s series finale. The win in the three-game set gave the Braves back-to-back series wins after taking three of four from the San Francisco Giants earlier in the week.
Braves Trying To Stay In NL East and Wild Card Hunts
Marcell Ozuna leads the Braves with 144 hits including 36 home runs and 93 RBIs while Orlando Arcia has 19 doubles and Ozzie Albies has a team-high 28 doubles, logging 93 hits as well this season. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a team-high 16 stolen bases as well this season but is out for the season with a torn ACL. - The Phillies have failed to cover the run line each of their last three games against teams that held a winning record.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Braves here. It’ll be interesting to see what we get from Reynaldo Lopez in this start, but I think he can have some success against a Phillies’ lineup that hasn’t been anything special against right-handed pitching as of late, and even if Zack Wheeler has another strong start which he’s done more often than not this season, I can’t trust this Phillies bullpen worth a lick. The Braves are a solid lineup and I think this game means just as much if not more to Atlanta considering they’re trying to stay in the division and Wild Card races. Give me the Braves here.
