Last weekend the Rays took on the Cleveland Guardians. Tampa Bay lost 4-2 in their Saturday matchup but otherwise won 2-0 in the other pair for a series win. After a 6-1 loss to the Yankees Friday, in game two the Rays rolled to a shutout win 9-1.
In the starter slot for Sunday’s finale the Rays will go with Shane Baz. This year over his two starts Baz is 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA. In 11 career starts Baz is 3-3 with a 4.26 ERA.

Over on the Yankees’ side, they played the Baltimore Orioles last weekend. New York was able to win the first two installments of that set 4-1 and 6-1 but blew the sweep with a Sunday loss 6-5. On Saturday the Yankees were out-hit 11-5 in the defeat.
It’ll be Marcus Stroman in the starter role for the Yankees on Saturday. This year Stroman is 7-4 with a 3.51 ERA in 19 starts. Stroman is 84-80 with a 3.64 ERA in 250 career games (242 starts).

Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Yankees, but I’m probably staying away. Stroman has been pretty shaky lately. He’s given up nine earned runs in 13.2 innings over his last three starts, going 0-1 in that time. As for Baz, he’s given up six earned in 10.1 innings total this year.
On Saturday the Yankees were wrecked on the mound in most innings. There wasn’t much going on offensively either. New York needs a big bounce-back effort Sunday, and I don’t know if they’ll get it.
