Can Cardinals Build on Sunday?

The Cardinals haven’t found a whole lot of success this season, but they were able to secure the 5-4 victory on Sunday. Alec Burleson hit a home run and two RBIs. Nolan Gorman also hit a home run and drove in three RBIs. The Cardinals are averaging 3.86 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.61 runs per game. The offense is ranked 26th in the league while the pitching is ranked 21st. They do have a negative run differential of -0.75 which is 24th in the league. Nolan Arenado has hit five home runs and driven in 26 RBIs. Getting the start for the Cardinals will be Kyle Gibson who sits with a 4-2 record and an ERA of 3.60. In his last start against the Cincinnati Reds, he went six innings giving up two hits and one run. Two starts ago against the Baltimore Orioles, he went four innings giving up five hits and three runs.

Astros Coming Off Another Series Loss

The Astros have had struggles this season and they are coming off another series loss. The Astros faced off against the Minnesota  Twins over the weekend and they lost two of three. On Sunday the Astros scored three runs but it wasn’t enough as they gave up four runs. Alex Bregman did hit a home run and drove in two RBis. The Astros are averaging 4.3 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.45 runs per game. The offense is ranked 14th in the league while the pitching is ranked 17th. Kyle Tucker has hit 17 home runs and driven in 40 RBis so far this season. Getting the start for the Astros will be Justin Verlander who sits with a 3-2 record and an ERA of 3.26. In his last start against the Seattle Mariners, he went seven innings giving up three hits and one run.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Houston Astros Prediction

This game is going to be a good old-fashioned pitchers' duel, and runs are going to be hard to come by. Verlander was dominant last season and he has been good overall this season. The Cardinals sent Gibson to the mound who gave up only one run in his last start. Look for both teams to really struggle here and that will be the difference here as this game is going to end up being lower scoring. Back the under.
