In the starter role for the Nats on Thursday it’ll be Trevor Williams. So far this year Williams is 4-0 with a 2.29 ERA and 43 Ks in 51.0 innings over 10 starts. Williams is 48-54 with a 4.36 ERA in 199 games (158 starts).

Over on the Braves’ side, they didn’t play all that well versus the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend. Atlanta lost the first two games of that set 11-5 and 4-1 before an 8-1 win in the finale stopped the sweep. On Wednesday the Braves got 5.0 innings, three earned runs, five hits and a walk from starter Spencer Schwellenbach.

Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Braves here. We should have a fun starter matchup regardless, though. Lopez is 0-1 in his last three starts, but he’s given up just four earned in 16.0 innings total during that time. As for Williams, he’s done well also with five earned over 14.1 innings during his last three starts.

On Wednesday the Braves had a couple of sketchy pitching performances and couldn’t keep pace on eight team hits. I like Atlanta to bounce back on Thursday but I’m probably not touching this one.
