In the Sunday rubber match the D-Backs dropped the series with a 3-1 loss. Starting pitcher Blake Walston finished with 4.2 innings, zero earned, four hits and a walk.

As starter for Tuesday’s matchup versus the Rangers, the Diamondbacks are going with Brandon Pfaadt. This year Pfaadt is 2-3 with a 4.05 ERA and 58 Ks in 60.0 innings over 10 starts. In his career Pfaadt is 5-12 with a 5.08 ERA in 29 games (28 starts).

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I’ll probably go with the Diamondbacks here. Pfaadt has been doing pretty well on the mound lately. He’s 1-1 in his last three starts combined, giving up six earned runs on 11 hits and five walks in 19.0 total innings. Pfaadt will need some backup from the Arizona offense, though. Considering the Diamondbacks have scored one run or fewer in two of their last three games that might be a tall order.

Texas has nine combined runs over their last two games, so if the Rangers can get their bats going this matchup will be interesting.
