It’ll be Miles Mikolas as starting pitcher for the Friday game. Over his 10 starts this year Mikolas is 3-5 with a 5.77 ERA and 39 Ks in 53.0 innings. Mikolas is 57-58 with a 4.03 career ERA in 188 games (160 starts) total.

Chicago Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll try the Cardinals in this one. Mikolas gave up six earned runs on nine hits in 4.0 innings back on May 7 versus the Mets, but he’s been better in his last two outings. In that pair combined Mikolas is 1-0 with four earned (three in the May 12 start) in 11.0 innings on eight hits and four walks. St. Louis should be set up well if Mikolas can get through six innings or so on Friday.

In their last outing the Cardinals got a nice all-around pitching effort (one earned on eight hits and two walks), surging to the sweep with a comeback win. The Cardinals played pretty well versus the O’s, all things considered. I like them to keep it going this weekend, but it’ll be tough to get past Imanaga in the early-going.
