San Diego Padres Betting Preview

The Padres played the Atlanta Braves in their weekend series. San Diego was able to win the first three installments of that set 3-1, 9-1 and 6-5 before taking a 3-0 shutout loss on Monday. In the opener versus the Reds, the Padres out-hit Cincinnati 5-3 in a 2-0 loss. JOe Musgrove lasted 3.0 innings in the start with no earned, three hits and two walks.

In the starting pitcher role for Wednesday’s game the Padres are sending out Michael King. This year King is 3-4 with a 4.31 ERA in 10 games (nine starts) alongside 61 Ks in 54.1 innings. King is 16-21 with a 3.55 ERA in 125 career games (28 starts).

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they were flummoxed by the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. Cincinnati won 7-2 in the opener then dropped the other games 7-3, 4-0 and 3-2. In their Tuesday matchup the Reds got a lone RBI from Elly De La Cruz (two hits). Andrew Abbott was great on 7.0 innings, four hits and a walk as starter.

It’ll be Nick Martinez in the starter slot for the Reds on Wednesday. So far this year Martinez is 1-2 with a 4.23 ERA in 10 games (four starts). Martinez has 29 Ks in 38.1 innings. In his career he’s 28-40 with a 4.31 ERA in 208 games (91 starts).

San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction

I’ll stick with the Padres. King needs a bounce-back start, though. In his last outing versus Colorado King posted six earned on eight hits and two walks in 5.1 innings during a loss. In his two starts prior to that however, King had zero earned in 13.0 combined frames. As for Martinez, he’s given up zero earned in his last 6.1 innings.

On Tuesday the Padres showed some life at the plate in a few scattered instances but couldn’t cash in on much. San Diego needs some better efforts on offense for Wednesday’s matchup.
