New York Mets Betting Preview

The Mets played the Miami Marlins in their weekend series. New York had issues in the first pair of that set with losses 8-0 and 10-9. In the Sunday finale the Mets scored four runs in the first inning and ended up winning 7-3 to stop the sweep. Starting pitcher Sean Manaea left after 5.0 innings, two earned, five hits and one walk.

In the stater role for the Monday opener the Mets will send out Tylor Megill. So far this year Megill has just one start under his belt, a loss with 4.0 innings and one earned run. In his MLB career Megill is 17-17 with a 4.68 ERA in 59 games (53 starts).

Over on the Guardians’ side, they took on the Minnesota Twins in their last series. Cleveland won the first two games of that set 3-2 and 11-4. On Sunday the Guardians powered out a 5-2 win on four team hits. Tanner Bibee managed 7.0 frames, one earned, four hits and a walk as starter.

It’ll be Ben Lively in the starting pitcher role for the Guardians on Monday. So far this year Lively is 2-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 31 Ks over 32.1 innings in six starts. Lively is 10-19 with a 4.78 ERA in 51 career games (38 starts).

New York Mets vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on the Guardians. Lively has been a little shaky at times over his last two starts, going 1-1 in that pair with six earned in 10.2 innings on 13 hits and six walks. He should be able to handle the Mets lineup if all goes well, though. As for Megill, it’ll be interesting to see what he can do in his second outing of the season after the loss to Milwaukee back on March 31.

In the Sunday finale the Guardians got all five of their RBI via big swings from Andres Gimenez (two RBI; two runs) and Will Brennan (three RBI) during an otherwise quiet day at the plate. I’d like to see a more well-balanced effort here but Cleveland should be competitive at least.
