Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over the weekend the Marlins took on the Philadelphia Phillies. Miami lost the first two games of that set 8-2 and 8-3, but staved off the sweep with a 7-6 win in the finale. The Marlins took another loss to the Tigers 6-5 on Monday, then in game two Miami eked out a dramatic 10-inning win 1-0. Starter Ryan Weathers was great on 8.0 frames, three his, no walks and four Ks.

In the starter role for the finale the Marlins will send out Trevor Rogers. This year Rogers is 0-6 with a 6.57 ERA in eight starts. He’s got 31 Ks in 37.0 innings. Rogers is 13-29 with a 4.40 ERA in 67 career starts.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they played the Houston Astros in their last set. Detroit managed an 8-2 win on Saturday but the other two games in that series were losses 5-2 and 9-3. Following their close win Monday, in game two the Tigers couldn’t get anything going on four team hits. Reese Olson had 8.0 clean innings as starter with three hits, one walk and six strikeouts.

It’ll be Casey Mize in the starting pitcher role for the Tigers on Wednesday. So far in his seven starts Mize is 1-1 with a 3.58 ERA and 26 Ks in 37.2 innings. Mize has an 8-14 career record with a 4.18 ERA in 46 starts.

Miami Marlins vs Detroit Tigers Prediction

I’ll probably stay with Detroit. Also probably not touching this one. Mize is coming off a nice start in a no-decision versus the Astros, posting one earned on five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings. Mize had five earned in 5.1 innings in a loss during the prior outing, though. As for Rogers, he’s given up 15 earned runs over 10.2 innings over his last three starts, going 0-3 over that trio.

On Tuesday the Tigers only got four hits—two from Wenceel Perez. That said, Detroit also gave up just four hits in a great pitching performance. Wednesday’s matchup should be another close one, and I think Detroit has a solid shot at taking the series.
