Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Guardians played four games versus the Chicago White Sox over the weekend. Cleveland lost the first three of that set 3-2, 6-3 and 3-1 before a Sunday win 7-0. Following another win 7-0 over the Rangers on Monday, in game two the Guardians scored six in the second inning and held on for the win 7-4. Starter Ben Lively put up 5.0 innings in the start with three earned on five hits and three walks.

In the starter slot for the Wednesday matchup the Guardians are going with Carlos Carrasco. This year Carrasco is 2-3 with a 5.36 ERA in eight starts. He’s got 31 Ks in 40.1 innings. Carrasco is 109-96 with a 4.08 ERA in 311 career games (264 starts).

Texas Rangers Betting Preview

Over on the Rangers’ side, they had no luck versus the Colorado Rockies in their weekend series. Texas lost those games 4-2, 8-3 and 3-1. After their blowout loss to Cleveland in the opener, in Tuesdays’ matchup the Rangers chipped away at the lead but couldn’t complete the comeback. Starting pitcher Jack Leiter was pulled after 1.2 innings, six earned, three hits and three walks.

It’ll be Jon Gray in the starter slot for the Rangers on Wednesday. This year Gray is 1-1 with a 2.36 ERA in nine games (eight starts) alongside 49 Ks in 45.2 innings. Over his career Gray is 70-65 with a 4.37 ERA in 214 games (212 starts).

Cleveland Guardians vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Rangers here. Gray should be able to set the table pretty well if he’s on point. In his last three starts combined Gray has just four earned in 21.0 total innings on 18 hits and one walk. As for Carrasco, he gave up eight earned in 4.0 innings on April 30 versus Houston but since has calmed down with four earned in his last 13.0 frames over two starts.

On Tuesday the Rangers gave up most of the damage in one inning and did a pretty good job at fighting back in the end. Texas got three runs via the solo homer though, so a more well-rounded offensive effort would be nice Wednesday.
