Atlanta Braves Betting Preview
The Braves played a pair of games versus the Boston Red Sox this past week. Atlanta did well in those matchups with wins 4-2 and 5-0. Following a 4-2 win over the Mets in the opener of their weekend series, on Saturday the Braves posted seven team hits on the way to a 4-1 win. Starter Max Fried lasted 7.0 clean frames with no hits, three walks and five Ks.
In the starting pitcher role for Sunday’s finale, Atlanta is sending out Bryce Elder. This year over his three starts Elder is 1-1 with a 5.28 ERA and 10 Ks in 15.1 innings. Elder has a 15-9 career record with a 3.76 ERA in 44 games (43 starts).
New York Mets Betting Preview
Over on the Mets’ side, they did pretty well against the struggling St. Louis Cardinals in their early-week series. New York won both those games 4-3 and 7-5 (with one rainout). After the Friday loss, in game two the Mets gave up two runs in the third inning and couldn’t get much going at the plate outside of a late homer from JD Martinez. Christian Scott lasted 6.0 innings as starter with three earned runs on six hits and two walks.
It’ll be Luis Severino in the starting pitcher slot for the Mets on Sunday. This year so far Severino is 2-2 with a 2.93 ERA and 37 Ks in 40.0 innings over seven starts. Severino is 56-39 over his career with a 3.74 ERA in 148 games (132 starts).

Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets Prediction
I’ll just stick with the Braves. Elder needs to have a bounce-back start, though. In his last outing versus the Dodgers, Elder coughed up seven earned runs on seven hits and four walks in just 3.1 innings during a loss. In his previous two starts, however, Elder managed just two earned in 12.0 innings of work. As for Severino, he’s coming off four earned in 5.0 innings during a no-decision versus the Rays.
On Saturday the Braves didn’t have the wildest day on offense, but between Michael Harris and Marcell Ozuna the team got five hits, two runs and an RBI. It was enough to overcome a pretty sketchy Mets effort at the plate. I like Atlanta to keep it up in the finale.
