The Sox played the Minnesota Twins in their early-week series. Chicago didn’t do very well in that matchup, falling 3-2, 6-5 and 10-5 for a three-game sweep. On Friday in the opener versus the Cardinals, the White Sox managed just three hits in a 3-0 shutout loss. Brad Keller managed 4.2 innings, three earned, five hits, two walks and five Ks in the starting role.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Sox will send out Erick Fedde. Over his six starts this year Fedde is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA. He has 39 Ks in 34.2 innings total. In his career Fedde is 23-33 with a 5.21 ERA in 108 games (94 starts).

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they took on the Detroit Tigers this week. St. Louis won 2-1 in the opener of that series but then fell 11-6 and 4-1 in the other pair of games. On Friday versus the White Sox, the Cardinals scored twice in the first inning on the way to six team hits. Sonny Gray was great on 7.0 clean innings, three hits, one walk and six Ks as starter.

It’ll be Lance Lynn in the starting pitcher role for the Cardinals on Saturday. This year Lynn is 1-0 with a 2.64 ERA in six starts. He’s got 29 strikeouts over 30.2 innings total. Lynn has a 137-95 career record in 347 games (323 starts).

Chicago White Sox vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Cardinals in this one. Lynn is on a pretty solid roll these days. He’s given up five earned runs on 17 combined hits and seven walks in 17.0 total innings across his last three starts. Lynn is 1-0 in that time. As for Fedde, he’s doing well himself with three earned on 13 hits and three walks in 20.0 total frames across his three starts. This should be a pretty fun starter matchup if both guys are on point.

In the Friday game, St. Louis got a stellar start from Gray, and the bullpen came through as well. JoJo Romero and Ryan Helsley combined for 2.0 clean frames, no walks, no hits and no strikeouts. I like the Cardinals to keep it going Saturday.

Andrew’s Pick St. Louis Cardinals -196
