Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Red Sox just finished up a home series versus the San Francisco Giants. Boston took wins in the first two installments of that set 4-0 and 6-2. In the finale on Thursday, the Sox mustered just four hits in a 3-1 loss. Tyler O’Neill had one of the hits alongside a pair of walks and an RBI. Starter Josh Winckowski lasted 4.1 innings with one earned run.

As starting pitcher for the Friday game, the Red Sox will send out Tanner Houck. This year over his six starts Houck is 3-2 with a 1.60 ERA and 41 Ks in 39.1 innings. Houck is 18-21 with a 3.55 ERA in 80 career games (47 starts).

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

Over on the Twins’ side, they played the Chicago White Sox in their last series. Minnesota managed a three-game sweep in that one, bagging victories 3-2, 6-5 and 10-5. In the Wednesday victory, the Twins posted four runs in the ninth inning and 12 team hits overall. Alex Kirilloff posted a solo homer with a pair of runs in the win.

It’ll be Chris Paddack in the starting pitcher role for the Twins on Friday. This year over five starts Paddack is 2-1 with a 5.88 ERA and 21 Ks in 26.0 innings. Over his career Paddack is 24-22 with a 4.33 ERA in 73 games (70 starts).

Boston Red Sox vs Minnesota Twins Prediction

I’ll stay with the Red Sox in this one. Houck should be good for a quality start here. He’s been pitching well lately with just three earned runs in 21.2 innings total over his last three starts. Houck has given up 12 hits and three walks in that time. As for Paddack, he’s been pretty erratic lately with 13 earned runs in 17.1 innings over his last three starts.

In their Thursday finale the Sox had a pretty rough offensive day. The pitching was pretty good though (outside of Zack Kelly’s 0.2 innings, four hits and two earned). Boston had a streak of four or more runs in four straight games prior to that, so I like the Sox to bounce back Friday.
