Over the weekend the Cubs took on the Boston Red Sox. Chicago took a 7-1 win in the opener of that series, but lost the weekend games 17-0 and 5-4. After a 3-1 Monday win over the Mets, in game two the Cubs had just four team hits (and two errors) in a 4-2 loss. Starting pitcher Javier Assad finished with 5.0 innings, one earned, no walks and five hits.
In the starter slot for Wednesday’s game, the Cubs will go with Shota Imanaga. This year in five starts (the first five starts of his MLB career), Imanaga is 4-0 with a 0.98 ERA. He’s got 28 strikeouts over 27.2 innings total.
New York Mets Betting Preview
Over on the Mets’ side, they lost their first pair of weekend games to the St. Louis Cardinals. New York staved off the sweep with a 4-2 Sunday win, though. Following their Monday loss, in Tuesday’s matchup the Mets scored three runs in the sixth inning on the way to the victory. Sean Manaea posted 5.0 innings in the starter role with one earned, three hits and four walks.
It’ll be Jose Butto in the starter slot for the Mets on Wednesday. This year over his four starts Butto is 0-1 with a 2.86 ERA. He’s got 25 Ks in 22.0 total frames. Over his career Butto is 1-5 with a 4.10 ERA in 14 games (12 starts).

Chicago Cubs vs New York Mets Prediction
I’ll stick with the Cubs. Chicago should be in good shape with Imanaga on the hill. In his last three starts combined, Imanaga is 3-0 with just three earned runs on 15 hits and three walks in 17.2 total innings. A quality start should be in the cards here. As for Butto, he’s coming off a sketchy outing versus the Cardinals with 5.2 innings and four earned in a loss on April 26.
On Tuesday the Cubs had a pretty flat offensive evening with Mike Tauchman getting two of the team’s four hits (and a run). Chicago really only had one bad inning though, so if the bats get going on Wednesday the Cubs will be fine.
