Kansas City Royals Betting Preview
Kansas City took on the Toronto Blue Jays in their last series. The Royals lost the opener 5-3, but then won the next three 3-2, 3-2 and 2-1 for a series victory. On Friday versus the Tigers, the Royals posted a whopping seven runs in the top of the ninth inning on the way to an 8-0 shutout win. Starter Seth Lugo finished with 7.0 clean frames, three hits and two walks with nine Ks.
In the starting pitcher role for the Royals on Saturday it’ll be Brady Singer. This year so far over his five starts Singer is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA. He’s got 28 Ks in 29.1 innings. Singer holds a career mark of 29-32 with a 4.32 ERA in 100 games (97 starts).
Detroit Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Tigers’ side, they played the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week. Detroit won the first pair in that series 7-1 and 4-2, but then lost 7-5 in the finale to miss out on the sweep. In the Friday game, the Tigers managed just five hits on the way to the loss. Reese Olson also went 7.0 frames in the start with one earned on three hits and three walks alongside eight strikeouts.
It’ll be Casey Mize in the starter slot for the Tigers on Saturday. In his four starts this year Mize is 1-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 16 Ks in 21.1 innings. Mize is 8-13 with a 4.16 ERA in 43 career games at the MLB level.

Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers Prediction
I’ll probably stay with the Tigers. This should be a pretty fun starter matchup regardless, though. Mize has given up four earned runs in 17.0 innings in his last three starts on 15 combined hits and four walks. As for Singer, he’s coming off a spotty start versus Toronto on April 22, taking a loss with five earned in 6.0 frames.
On Friday the Tigers were doing great on defense for eight innings, then imploded. The offense really hadn’t come through by then either however, as Detroit had only four hits by that time (two by Mark Canha). Mize should be able to keep things manageable on Saturday, but the bats need to come along for the ride.
