The Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Angels meet Friday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Minnesota Twins vs. Los Angeles Angels prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Minnesota Twins will be starting Bailey Ober in this game. Ober is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season and this will be Ober’s second career start against the Angels. Patrick Sandoval will get the nod for the Angels in this game, and is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 24 strikeouts this season. In his career, Sandoval is 1-2 with a 2.95 ERA and 20 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins Recap

The Minnesota Twins come into this one fresh off of a four-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox to start the week. It was a much needed result for the Twins, who had been struggling offensively for the better part of the season up to this point, which included a series loss to Detroit as well as being swept by the Baltimore Orioles. The Twins completed the sweep with a 6-3 win over the White Sox on Thursday, a game in which the Twins looked in trouble for much of it, falling behind 2-0 before breaking things open with all six runs plated in the 6th-8th innings.

Twins Heating Up At The Dish

Going into Thursday’s matchup, Byron Buxton and Alex Kirilloff each have a team-high 19 hits so far for the Twins with Buxton logging a team-high 7 doubles and 10 RBIs while Kirilloff has 3 triples and 5 doubles as well. Edouard Julien also has a team-high 5 home runs with 7 RBIs and 29 strikeouts while Willi Castro’s added 30 strikeouts to lead the Twins in that department this season. Ryan Jeffers has 3 home runs with a team-high 12 RBIs and 5 doubles of his own and Austin Martin also has 5 doubles as well this season.

Minnesota Twins Team Facts

  • The Twins have won each of their last eight night games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Twins have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight games against the Angels following a home win.
  • The 'Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs' market has hit in each of the Twins' last four games against AL West opponents.
  • The Twins have trailed after 7 innings in three of their last four games as road favorites.
  • The Twins have won the first inning in each of their last four night games against AL West opponents.

Los Angeles Angels Recap

The Los Angeles Angels enter this series looking to bounce back after falling short in their series against the Baltimore Orioles, culminating in a 6-5 loss in the series finale on Wednesday. The Angels will be hoping this series can be a nice launching point after being swept by the Reds in the last series and settling for a split in the four-game set with the Rays in the series before that.

Angels Offensive Production Fairly Top Heavy

Taylor Ward leads the Angels with 28 hits along with 7 home runs and a team-high 23 RBIs. Mike Trout has a team-high 10 home runs along with a pair of triples and 5 stolen bases while Zach Neto has a team-high 27 strikeouts and 4 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has a team-high 7 stolen bases as well.

Los Angeles Angels Team Facts

  • The Angels have won each of their last six night games following a home loss.
  • The Angels have covered the run line in each of their last six night games against AL Central opponents following a home loss.
  • The 'Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs' market has hit in each of the Angels' last five games as underdogs against AL Central opponents.
  • The Angels have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last three home games against AL Central opponents.

Twins vs. Angels Prediction

I’m on the Twins here. I just think that the series win over the White Sox might have been a good jump off point for the Twins to wake up offensively, as it’s kind of felt like a long wait for it to happen to this point. The Angels have played the tougher opposition as well, but I can’t trust the Angels right now as the offense is still wildly inconsistent and I’d say it has had a tendency to be disappointing more often than not this season. Give me the Twins in this one.
