Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Brewers played well against the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. Milwaukee took a sweep in that series with wins 2-1, 12-5 and 2-0. In their first two games versus the Pirates this week however, the Brewers lost 4-2 and 2-1. In the Wednesday matchup Milwaukee eked out a 3-2 win, scoring all of their runs in the third inning. Bryse Wilson lasted 4.1 innings in the start with two earned on three hits and three walks.

As starting pitcher for the Thursday finale, the Brewers will send out Freddy Peralta. This year in four starts Peralta is 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA and 33 Ks in 23.2 innings. Peralta is 44-27 with a 3.75 career ERA in 150 games (101 starts). The Brewers will meet the Yankees after this series.

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

Over on the Pirates’ side, they struggled versus the Boston Red Sox in their weekend series. Pittsburgh lost all three of those games, scoring just four runs between them. Following their two wins in the first pair of the Brewers series, on Wednesday the Pirates couldn’t find much success on four team hits. Bryan Reynolds managed a two-run homer, though.

It’ll be Mitch Keller in the starting pitcher role for the Pirates on Thursday. So far Keller is 2-2 with a 4.80 ERA in five starts. He’s got 25 Ks in 30.0 total innings. Keller is 27-40 with a 4.71 ERA in 107 career games (105 starts).

Milwaukee Brewers vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

I’ll stay with the Brewers in the finale. Milwaukee should get a solid start out of Peralta. He’s got just one earned run in 12.0 innings on nine hits and two walks over his last two combined starts. In total, Peralta has five earned in 23.2 innings this year. As for Keller, he’s coming off a spotty start against the Red Sox with four earned in 6.0 innings. Keller had been pitching pretty well before that, though.

On Wednesday the Brewers managed a wild win, but not too many batters got in on the action. William Contreras (three hits; RBI; run) and Sal Frelick (two hits; run) had five of the team’s seven hits between them. It would be nice to see Milwaukee post a more balanced effort at the plate on Thursday.
