The Blue Jays played the San Diego Padres over the weekend and nearly pulled off a sweep. The lone loss came 6-3 on Sunday. On Monday versus the Royals, Toronto posted three runs in the third inning on the way to a 5-3 win. Starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi finished with 6.0 innings, two earned, five hits, no walks and four strikeouts.
In the Tuesday starting pitcher role, the Blue Jays are going with Kevin Gausman. So far over four starts this year Gausman is 0-2 with an 8.16 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 14.1 frames. Gausman is 88-93 with a 3.88 ERA in 302 career games (263 starts).
Kansas City Royals Betting Preview
Over on the Royals’ side, they beat the Baltimore Orioles on Friday before falling in both weekend matchups. In the Monday game against the Blue Jays, Kansas City got a two-run homer from Maikel Garcia and two hits from Salvador Perez. Kyle Isbel added a solo homer, and starter Brady Singer gave up five earned in 6.0 frames during the start.
Michael Wacha will take the mound for the Royals on Tuesday. Across his four starts this year Wacha is 1-2 with a 3.75 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 24.0 innings. Wacha is 89-56 with a 3.96 career ERA in 253 games (232 starts). The Royals will play against the Tigers following this series.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Kansas City Royals Prediction
I’ll take a stab on the Royals here. Probably not touching this one, though. Wacha had some issues versus the Mets on April 12 with five earned on 10 hits and two walks in 6.0 innings during a loss. He bounced back with 6.0 innings of two-earned ball in his last start, but still took another defeat. Gausman has been pretty sketchy as well but did post a nice start versus the Yankees his last time up (5.0 innings; one earned).
On Monday Kansas City got a pretty rough start from Singer. The good news is that the bullpen was solid on 3.0 innings, no earned, one hit, two walks and three Ks. The Royals really only had a couple of bad innings and probably should have been more competitive in this one. I like a closer game (and maybe a win) on Tuesday.
