The New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants meet Tuesday in MLB action from Coors Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a New York Mets vs. San Francisco Giants prediction.

New York Mets Team Preview

The New York Mets come into this one looking to bounce back from a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Giants in Monday’s series opener. The Mets fell behind early and never really recovered, scoring once in the 5th inning before a consolation RBI in the top of the 9th, but it was too little too late as the Mets cranked out just four hits as a team in the loss. Pete Alonso leads the Mets with 7 home runs along with 12 RBIs while Brandon Nimmo has 2 home runs and a team-high 15 RBIs. Jeff McNeil has a team-high 5 doubles while Starling Marte has a team-high 26 hits with 6 stolen bases and Harrison Bader has 4 SB as well this season. Luis Severino will get the start for the Mets here and is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 21 strikeouts this season. This will be Severino’s first career start against San Francisco. The Mets will play against the Cardinals and Cubs following this series.

San Francisco Giants Team Preview

The San Francisco Giants come into this one looking to keep the ball rolling after their strong showing in Monday’s opener. The Giants plated four runs in the first three innings and never looked back as San Francisco coasted to the finish line. Jung Hoo Lee leads the Giants with 25 hits while Michael Conforto has a team-high 5 home runs and 16 RBIs with 5 doubles as well. Matt Chapman has 4 home runs and 14 RBIs with a team-high 7 doubles while Thairo Estrada has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 24 strikeouts so far this season. Estrada and Patrick Bailey each have 5 doubles as well for the Giants this season. Logan Webb will get the nod for the Giants in game two and is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. In his career, Webb is 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA and 23 strikeouts against the Mets. The Giants will meet the Pirates after this series.

Mets vs. Giants Prediction

I’m on the under here. Severino’s pitched really well so far this season outside of the season-opening loss to the Brewers, giving up one earned or less in three straight starts and in pitcher-friendly Oracle, I think Severino can have another solid start here. Webb on the other hand, has always enjoyed pitching at home, it’s where he plays his best and the Mets’ offense takes a big step down against right-handed pitching. The Mets have been crushing lefties to start the year, but it won’t help them here. Give me the under.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
