Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

In their last series the Brewers took on the San Diego Padres and lost two of three games. Milwaukee eked out a 2-1 win over the Cards on Friday, then in game two the Brewers posted 18 team hits in a blowout win 12-5. Starter DJ Hall had a shaky outing with four earned in 3.2 innings on five hits and five walks, though.

Starter for the Sunday finale will be Milwaukee’s Colin Rea. This year in three starts Rea is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 11 Ks in 16.2 innings. Rea is 16-14 with a 4.63 career ERA in 65 total games (52 starts).

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they were able to win two of three games over the Oakland Athletics in their last set. After the Friday loss, in game two St. Louis had a 4-2 lead after three innings but couldn’t score again until the ninth. Nolan Arenado had two RBI, while Michael Siani had two runs with two hits.

It’ll be Sonny Gray in the starter slot for the Cardinals on Sunday. Across his two starts this year Gray is 2-0 with a clean ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11.0 innings. Gray is 100-85 with a 3.45 ERA in 281 career games (272 starts).

Brewers vs Cardinals Prediction

I’ll try the Cardinals here. You could make an argument either way here, though; it should be a fun way to finish off the series. Gray is doing great so far with two wins, zero earned, zero walks, nine hits and 11 Ks through 11.0 innings over two starts. Rea is pitching well also with five earned in 16.2 innings total. He’s coming off three earned on five hits and a walk in 5.2 innings versus the Orioles on April 14.

On Saturday St. Louis had a pretty rough outing from a quartet of pitchers. After starter MIles Mikolas exited on 4.2 innings and five earned, the bullpen gave up six more runs in 4.1 frames. Offensively it was a fairly uneven effort, but the run total (five) was the highest since a 9-6 win over Arizona on April 12. The Cards have now lost three straight so they’re going to need a hefty turnaround on both sides to stave off the weekend sweep.
