Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Royals are fresh off a series versus the New York Mets over the weekend. Kansas City split the first two games of that set, then in the Sunday rubber match the Royals took a tough loss 2-1, posting just three team hits along the way. Vinnie Pasquantino provided the team’s only RBI with a solo homer.

As starting pitcher for the Monday game one, the Royals will send out Seth Lugo. This year in three starts Lugo is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA and nine strikeouts in 18.2 innings. Lugo is 42-31 with a 3.44 ERA in 304 career games (67 starts).

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

Over on the White Sox’ side, they played the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend and lost the first two games 11-1 and 5-0. On Sunday Chicago gave up four runs in both the third and seventh innings during an 11-4 loss. Starter Michael Soroka finished with 4.2 innings, five earned, five hits and six walks.

Erick Fedde will take the mound for the White Sox as starting pitcher on Monday. Across three starts this year Fedde has a 4.30 ERA without a decision. Fedde has 14 Ks in 14.2 total innings. In his career Fedde is 21-33 with a 5.37 ERA in 105 games (91 starts).

Royals vs White Sox Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Royals here. Lugo has looked pretty good in his first three starts, going at least 6.0 innings in each one. He’s got just three earned runs in 18.2 total innings and has won his last two outings. As for Fedde, he had a bit of a rocky start in Cleveland his last time up (5.0 innings; four earned) but was pitching pretty well in his first pair.

On Sunday Kansas City had a pretty futile effort at the plate. Pasquantino, Bobby Witt and Salvador Perez were the only three batters to manage a hit, and the team drew just one walk. The good news is that the pitching was (mostly) on point. The bats need to come around on Monday, though.

Andrew’s Pick Kansas City Royals -185
