The Houston Astros will host the Toronto Blue Jays for game two of their three-game set this Tuesday from Minute Maid Park on MLBN. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Blue Jays vs Astros Prediction.

Toronto Blue Jays Preview

Toronto enters at 2-3 after falling to Houston on Monday, 10-0. The Blue Jays were embarrassed by the Astros last night, and they’ll have to show more fight today if they’d like to compete. Toronto is batting .185, while scoring 4.0 runs per game, with a team ERA of 5.57.

Projected Starter

Jose Berrios (1-0, 3.00 ERA) will take the mound for Toronto. The eighth-year pitcher opened the season with a quality start (6 IP, 2 ER) and six strikeouts against Tampa, earning the winning decision along the way. Berrios has been one of the steadier pitchers in the league since 2017, and after starting the season on a strong note, he’ll have to bring that same energy down to Houston this Tuesday.

Toronto’s Player Props

  • Jose Berrios has recorded six or more strikeouts in 11 of his last 12 appearances against AL opponents that held a losing record.
  • Bo Bichette has recorded at least one hit in each of his last 11 Tuesday appearances against teams that held a losing record.
  • Justin Turner has recorded at least one Single in each of his last seven Tuesday appearances with his team as an underdog.

Houston Astros Preview

Houston comes in at 1-4 after defeating Toronto last night, 10-0. The Astros struck revenge on the AL East with a spanking of the Jays, and they’ll look to build on that effort here in game two. Houston is batting .276, while scoring 5.0 runs per game, with a team ERA of 3.60.

Astros’ Projected Starter

Framber Valdez (0-0, 5.79 ERA) will take the hill for Houston. The seventh-year lefty didn’t fare too well with the Yanks in his season debut, walking six, while allowing three runs thru just 4.2 innings pitched. Valdez should be better here in his second outing, but he’ll have to come out sharper, as the Jays should be much more aggressive in this one.

Houston’s Player Props

  • Yordan Alvarez has recorded two or more total bases in each of the Astros' last seven games against AL opponents that held a losing record.
  • Jose Altuve has recorded at least one hit in each of the Astros' last 10 games.
  • Jose Altuve has recorded at least one Single in each of his last six home appearances against the Blue Jays.

Houston Team Facts

  • The Astros have trailed after 5 innings in 11 of their last 16 games as home favorites.

Toronto Team Facts

  • The Blue Jays have lost each of their last six games against AL West opponents.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine games against AL West opponents

Blue Jays vs Astros Prediction

Houston responded abruptly to being swept by the Yankees, and I like riding their momentum here into game two. The Blue Jays are off to a slow start themselves, and this will mark their sixth straight road bout to open the season. Jose Berrios may put up a fight early on, but I like trusting the bats in Space City to take a 2-0 series lead with a win Tuesday night.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
