Braves Preview

The Atlanta Braves are 2-0 this season after they won Game 2 of this series by a score of 12-4 on Saturday. Atlanta won Game 1 by a score of 9-3 on Friday, so their offense is rolling right now. The Braves offense has scored 21 runs with a .390 batting average and a .444 on base percentage. Matt Olson is batting .400 with one home run and four RBI’s for Atlanta this season. The Atlanta pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a .203 opponent batting average this year. The projected starting pitcher for Atlanta is Chris Sale, who was 6-5 with a 4.30 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 102.2 innings pitched for Boston last season.

Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies are 0-2 this year after losing the first two games in this series and they have had some major issues with their pitching staff. Philadelphia has allowed 21 runs in two games, but that is part of the danger of playing a team like Atlanta. The Philadelphia offense has scored seven runs with a .203 batting average and a .292 on base percentage. Bryson Stott is batting .500 with 0 home runs and two RBI’s through two games this year. The Phillies pitching staff has a 10.50 ERA with a 2.22 WHIP and a .390 opponent batting average this season. The projected starting pitcher for Philadelphia is Ranger Suarez, who was 4-6 with a 4.18 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 125 innings pitched last year.

Braves vs Phillies Betting Prediction

Atlanta comes into this game looking for the three game sweep in this series and their offense has looked great in the first two wins. The Braves have scored 21 runs through two games and they have had some decent pitching. Atlanta will turn to Chris Sale in this game, who had decent numbers last year, but I don’t know how much I trust him. Philadelphia is going with Ranger Suarez, who did have an elevated WHIP last season, but did pitch pretty well between August and October. I know it is a dangerous game to go against the Braves, but the Phillies are a good team and I think they can jump on Sale in this matchup. Take Philadelphia at home. Following this series, the Braves will take on the White Sox, while the Phillies will play against the Reds.
