The Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies face off on Wednesday in Game 2 of their NL Wild Card showdown at Citizens Bank Park. On Tuesday it was the Phillies that were able to secure the 4-1 victory.
Marlins Need to get Offense Going
All season the Marlins offense has been an issue and it appears it’s still an issue in the playoffs. On Tuesday the Marlins only managed one run in the 7th inning and that wasn’t enough as they ended up giving up three runs. Luiz Arraez clearly isn’t 100 percent but he is still playing and finished his first game with only a run. Getting the start for the Marlins will be Braxton Garrett who now has all the pressure on him. In his last start against the Mets he went four innings giving up three hits and four runs.
Phillies a Win Away
The Phillies are a win away from advancing to the next round, and it was good pitching that led to the success on Tuesday. Nick Castellanos had a strong game finishing with two hits and one run. They didn’t have any home runs, but they still scored the four runs and that was enough for the win. On the mound for the Phillies will be Aaron Nola and he’s going to need to have a big game here. In his last start against the Pirates he went 6.2 innings giving up four hits and one run.
Shane’s Free Pick
This is going to be an easy victory for the Phillies. They have the better pitcher on the ground and Garrett is coming off a start where he really struggled. The Phillies bats are going to get going early, and the Marlins bats are going to struggle again here. Look for the Marlins to score only a run or two total and this will be an another comfortable victory by the Phillies. Back the Phillies -1.5.
