The St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers face off on Thursday in an MLB showdown at American Family Field.
Cardinals Need Good Pitching
The Cardinals need good pitching this series and in the first game they gave up only one run and that was enough for the 4-1 victory. The Cardinals offense hasn’t been good the last month, and when they have found success the pitching has been good. The Cardinals are averaging 4.43 runs while their pitching is giving up 5.06 runs per game. The offense is ranked 18th while the pitching is ranked 24th. Nolan Arenado has hit 26 home runs and driven in 93 RBIs so far this season. On the mound for the Cardinals will be Dakota Hudson who sits with a 6-2 record and an ERA of 4.95.
Brewers Have Best Pitching in Baseball
One thing that isn’t talked about enough with this Brewers team is how good their pitching is. The Brewers are giving up only 4.03 runs per game which is the best in baseball. The Brewers are averaging 4.51 runs per game which is 17th best in the league. On the mound for the Brewers will be Corbin Burnes who sits with a 10-8 record and an ERA of 3.46. In his last start against the Marlins he went five innings giving up two hits and zero runs.
Shane’s Free Pick
This is going to be an easy victory for the Brewers. Burnes has been dominant this series and in his last start he gave up zero runs. Over his last three starts he has given up only four runs total. The Cardinals bats are going to have some major issues scoring here, and that is going to be the difference here as the Brewers are going to get the job done here. Back the Brewers -1.5 to cash.
