The Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians clash Sunday in game 3 of an MLB series at Progressive Field. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.
Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview
The Orioles look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Orioles have a 1.5 game lead in the AL East. The Orioles pitching staff is 10th in ERA (4.03), 10th in WHIP (1.26) and 9th in quality starts (65). The Orioles' offense is 7th in runs per game (5.08), 6th in batting average (.257) and 16th in homers (180). Adley Rutschman leads the Orioles with 156 hits and 75 RBI, while Anthony Santander and Gunnar Henderson have combined for 287 hits and 172 RBI. Kyle Gibson gets the ball, and he is 14-9 with a 5.00 ERA and 149 strikeouts this season. Gibson is 4-10 with a 5.55 ERA and 74 strikeouts in his career against the Guardians.
Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview
The Guardians look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Guardians have been bounced from playoff contention. The Guardians pitching staff is 7th in ERA (3.91), 17th in WHIP (1.29) and 12th in quality starts (56). The Guardians' offense is 27th in runs per game (4.11), 15th in batting average (.252) and 30th in homers (118). Steven Kwan leads the Guardians with 168 hits and 54 RBI, while Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez have combined for 300 hits and 141 RBI. Triston McKenzie gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season. McKenzie is 0-2 with a 5.25 ERA and 11 strikeouts in his career against the Orioles.
Randy’s Pick
I'm not running to the window to get behind Kyle Gibson and his 5.00 ERA, but the O's have been moneymakers for bettors all season, and they need to keep winning to close in on a division crown. The Guardians have nothing to play for at this point and as talented as Triston McKenzie is, he has just 10 innings under his belt this season. McKenzie hasn't pitched since June due to an elbow injury. The Orioles above average offense should be looking at this as a chance to take advantage of a pitcher out of action for a while. Give me the Orioles and the cheap price.
