The Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs clash Saturday in game 2 of an MLB series at Wrigley Field. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.
Colorado Rockies Betting Preview
The Rockies look to snap a 5-game losing streak. The Rockies have the worst record in the NL. The Rockies pitching staff is 30th in ERA (5.64), 30th in WHIP (1.53) and 28th in quality starts (38). The Rockies' offense is 19th in runs per game (4.43), 16th in batting average (.248) and 28th in homers (146). Ezequiel Tovar leads the Rockies with 141 hits and 73 RBI, while Ryan McMahon and Elias Diaz have combined for 258 hits and 141 RBI. Chris Flexen gets the ball, and he is 1-8 with a 7.19 ERA and 70 strikeouts this season. Flexen is 0-1 with a 9.26 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Cubs.
Chicago Cubs Betting Preview
The Cubs need a win after losing 7 of their last 9 games. The Cubs are currently in the third NL wild card spot. The Cubs pitching staff is 14th in ERA (4.08), 13th in WHIP (1.28) and 4th in quality starts (69). The Cubs' offense is 7th in runs per game (5.08), 11th in batting average (.255) and 14th in homers (187). Nico Hoerner leads the Cubs with 170 hits and 66 RBI, while Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki have combined for 283 hits and 164 RBI. Marcus Stroman gets the ball, and he is 10-9 with a 3.76 ERA and 115 strikeouts this season. Stroman is 4-2 with a 2.31 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his career against the Rockies.
Randy’s Pick
The Rockies are just looking to wrap up this season and start catching flights for vacation. Don't expect things to change with Chris Flexen and his 7.19 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. The Cubs need to keep winning to stay in the wild card hunt, and Marcus Stroman has been sharp this season with a 3.76 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. Stroman is allowing a .196 batting average at home this season. Hard to bet against the Cubs in this spot. Give me the Cubs and the RL for max betting value.
