The Cincinnati Reds will head out to the Bay Area to start a three-game set with the San Francisco Giants this Monday from Oracle Park on

Reds Preview & Projected Starter

Cincinnati moved to 68-63 after defeating Arizona. The Reds used timely late-game hitting to avoid a third straight loss, and they’ll look to take the rubber match on Sunday. The Cincinnati offense is scoring 3.78 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .334 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.96 ERA, with a 1.46 WHIP.

Andrew Abbott (8-3, 3.16 ERA, 93 Ks) will get the call for Cincinnati. The rookie southpaw had a short outing in Anaheim last time out, allowing three runs in four innings pitched to the Angels. Abbott cooled off a bit in August after jumping off to a fast start in the majors, and he’ll attempt to get back on track here at Oracle.

Reds Player Trends & Props

Spencer Steer has recorded a hit in six of the last eight games,  and he leads the team in hits (127), home runs (18), with 71 RBI.

Tyler Stephenson has produced a run in four of the previous seven games, and he’s posting splits of .247/10/44.

Matt McClain homered in the game three win, and he leads Cincy in batting (.294), with 50 RBI.

Elly De La Cruz has scored a run in six of the last nine games,  and he’s batting .248, with 52 runs scored thru 70 games.

Giants Preview & Projected Starter

San Francisco comes in at 67-63 after dropping two of three to Atlanta. The Giants avoided the series sweep by taking game three, and they’ll look for better results here against the Reds.  The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.81 runs per game, while batting .250, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.89 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP.

Kyle Harrison (0-0, 5.40 ERA, 5 Ks) is set to open the game for San Francisco. This will mark the rookie lefty’s second appearance in the majors, and the first at Oracle park. Harrison struck out five in 3.1 innings pitched against Philly in his debut.

Giants Player Trends & Props

Wilmer Flores homered in the game two loss, and he leads SFG in batting (.296) and home runs (19), with 48 RBI.

J.D Davis recorded hits in all three games against Atlanta, and he leads the team in hits (100), with fifteen home runs and 58 RBI.

Lamonte Wade Jr. brings a five-game hit streak into this series, and he’s posting splits of .256/13/35.

Corey’s Free Pick

I like this matchup for Andrew Abbott on the road, and we could be in for a low-scoring contest. How Kyle Harrison fares in his first home start remains to be seen, but he’ll have the best bullpen in the league to back him, and with both lineups missing key pieces, it could have an effect on the scoreboard. Take the under for game one of the Cincy/San Fran series.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
