The Cincinnati Reds will head to Phoenix to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in game two of their four-game set this Friday from Chase Field. Arizona took game one by a small margin, 3-2.

Reds Preview & Projected Starter

Cincinnati moved to 67-62 after losing to Arizona. The Reds let the DBacks steal game one, and they’ll look to get back into the win column Friday evening. The Cincinnati offense is scoring 3.78 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .334 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.96 ERA, with a 1.46 WHIP.

Hunter Greene (2-5, 4.72 ERA, 104 Ks) will get the call for Cincinnati. The second-year flamethrower was lit up in his return to action against Toronto, surrendering nine runs in just three innings pitched en route to his fifth loss. Greene missed over two months of action, and after looking rusty in his first trip back to the mound, he’ll definitely seek better results here.

Reds Player Trends & Props

Spencer Steer doubled in a run in last night’s victory, and he leads the team in hits (120), home runs (18), with 67 RBI.

Matt McClain went yard in the game one win, and he leads Cincy in batting (.296), with 44 RBI.

Elly De La Cruz has reached base in eight of the previous ten games, and he’s batting .254, with 46 runs scored thru 64 games.

TJ Freidl has totaled multiple bases in three of the last five games, and he’s second on the team in batting (.276) and hits (102).

Diamondbacks Preview & Projected Starter

Arizona enters at 67-61 after defeating Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks responded swiftly in the eighth inning, and they’ll attempt to win a sixth straight game here on Friday. The Arizona offense is scoring 4.34 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.41 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP.

Brandon Pfaadt (0-6, 6.13 ERA, 55 Ks) will get the ball for Arizona. The rookie pitcher had his best outing of the season in San Diego last week, tossing seven scoreless frames, while allowing just one hit. Pfaadt sadly wasn’t able to earn the victory, but he’s turned in a pair of seven-inning starts this month, and he’ll attempt to come thru again versus Cincy here.

DBacks Player Trends & Props

Christian Walker has produced a run in five of the last ten games, and he’s Arizona’s leader in home runs (28) and RBI (84).

Ketel Marte had multiple hits in the game one win, and he’s first on the team in batting (.273) and hits (127), with twenty homers and 63 runs batted in.

Corbin Carroll homered in the win over Cincy, and he’s posting splits of .277/22/64.

Tommy Pham has been hot, as he’s produced a run in six of the past nine games, and he brings a 14-game hit streak into this contest.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has recorded a hit in eight of the last ten games, and he’s posting a line of .258/19/65.

Corey’s Free Pick

These two young clubs have experienced a similar path this season, as they both find themselves unexpectedly in the heat of a tight NL Wild Card race, and I like rolling with the steaming hosts right here. Arizona has cleansed and put a bad month of July behind them, and with the way they're swinging right now, they’re trustworthy at home against a volatile Hunter Greene. Let’s back the DBacks again here in game two, as they look to pin a seventh straight win.
