The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers face off on Wednesday in an MLB showdown at Kaufmann Stadium. The two teams have split the first two games of this series.
Twins Pulling Away
The Twins seem to be finally pulling away and heading into Tuesday’s game they had a 5.5 lead over the Cleveland Guardians. On Tuesday though they lost and now the lead is at 4.5. In the first game of the season the pitching was strong and they didn’t give up any runs until the 9th inning. The pitching has been a strength all season, and they are going to need to be good again here. Bailey Ober sits with a 6-5 record and an ERA of 3.21. Outside of the home run ball Ober has been good, but over his last four starts he has given up six home runs. The Twins offense is ranked 17th in baseball but the pitching has been ranked second.
Another Wasted Season of the Tigers
It’s been another wasted season for the Tigers and it really doesn’t seem like anytime soon they are going to be out of th basement of the American League. This is a teaam that has had issues hitting all season and the pitching hasn’t been all that good. This is a roster filled with players that wouldn’t make it on many other teams in baseball. The Tigers are averaging 3.9 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.89 runs per game.
Shane’s Free Pick
The only time that Ober really struggles is when he gave up the long ball and here he faces a team that is third worst in baseball in terms of home runs hit. On the season the Tigers have hit only 103, and the ball is going to stay in the ballpark for Ober. He’s going to go seven innings and give up a max of two runs. This is going to be another comfortable victory for the Twins. Back the Twins -1.5.
Shane’s Pick Twins -1.5
