The Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Wrigley Field. The two teams have split the first games of this series. On Saturday it was the Cubs that were able to secure the 8-6 victory.
Steele Looks to Bounce Back
On the mound for the Cubs will be Justin Steele who sits with 12-3 record and an ERA of 2.65. He has been lights out for most of the season, but he struggled in the last game. Steele went six innings giving up nine hits and five runs. Two starts ago against the Cardinals he went six innings giving up one run and he needs to be better here. On Friday the Cubs offense was awful scoring zero runs, and they need the offense to be better here. The Cubs are averaging 5.09 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.45 runs per game. Christopher Morel has hit 17 home runs and driven in 53 RBIs.
Braves Continue to Dominate
This is a Braves team that looks like they can win the World Series, and they are looking to dominate the Cubs here. On Friday the Braves offense looked impressive scoring eight runs and they are going to try to find success again here with the bats. Ronald Acuna Jr has been strong with the offense, and on Friday he finished with three hits and one run. The Braves offense is ranked 2nd while the pitching is ranked 6th. Their run differential is an average of 1.56 which is 1st in baseball. Matt Olson has hit 37 home runs and driven in 92 RBIs so far this season.
Shane’s Free Pick
Steele didn’t look great in the last game, but he has been good overall and he sits with an ERA of 2.65. The Braves offense is good, but they aren’t going to run up the score here, and that is going to be the difference. The Cubs aren’t going to run up the score either, and that is going to be the difference as this game stays under the total. Back the under to cash here with ease. This is one of my favorite plays on the board.
